Spotted: Pacifica products...at Target!

What?!?! Yep, your eyes are not decieving you. Reader Allison spotted a beautiful display of Pacifica products at Target recently and was nice enough to share a pic:

Pacifica, now at Target
As you can see, there's a nice assortment of products in this display.
Allison writes:
I've recently found Pacifica products at my local Target! Now that they are becoming unavailable at most Sephora locations and Sephora.com, this is great news! Products seem a bit cheaper, too. For instance, the tinted lip balms are $6.99, the Radiant Shimmer Coconut Multiple (cream face palette) is $11.99 at Target ($14 on pacificaperfume.com), and the Eye Brightening Eye Shadow Palette is also $11.99 at Target ($14 on Pacifica's site). My Target is stocking the coconut water cleaning wipes (AMAZING!!! These are fantastic!), body butter, lip balm, face palette, eye palette, roll-on fragrance, and the Take Me There gift set.
Allison also shared a bit more about the Pacifica Coconut Water Cleansing Wipes:
I immediately grabbed the Coconut Water Cleansing Cloths and I am obsessed!!! They are a must-try! I have sensitive, acne-prone skin and these are extremely gentle, smell AMAZING, and take off all makeup. They're also all natural, biodegradable, etc.

If I weren't already in my PJs I'd be grabbing the keys and heading to Target right this moment for a back-up tube of  Tuscan Blood Orange Body Cream and those cleansing wipes...

Thanks so much, Allison, for the fantastic information, sighting and pic!

Review: Flower by Drew Barrymore Color Play Créme Eyeshadows in Awesome Blossom and Flirty Floret

It's time to end the suspense. Last week I posted this picture of my eye, telling you that I was loving the shadow I was wearing (but I didn't reveal the shadow itself).

Time for the big reveal: it was Flower Color Play Créme Eyeshadow in Awesome Blossom! Congrats to everyone who guessed correctly in the comments/Twitter/Facebook. You guys are gooood.

I purchased two shades from this collection online a few weeks ago (Flower is exclusive to Walmart and, as of the time of this post, only partial displays have been spotted in stores, but the entire line is available online).

I've been wearing these bad boys non-stop since I got them. So let's get down to it, shall we? I have a LOT to say about these, so sit back, get comfy, grab a cup of coffee or tea and get ready....

European Union Ban on Animal Testing Begins in March

This just in:
(From Happi.com)

EU Animal Testing Ban Goes in Effect in March

A ban blocking the import and sale of animal-tested cosmetics products and ingredients in the European Union is expected to go into effect on March 11, according to a letter written by EU health commissioner Tonio Borg to animal-testing campaigners.

The ban, which many beauty companies had expected to be delayed or scrapped, will demand that anyone who wishes to sell new cosmetics products and ingredients in the EU must not test them on animals anywhere in the world. The ruling affects all cosmetics products, including toiletries like toothpaste and soap.

I'm wondering if this will mean that the European Union will have fewer options when it comes to beauty products, or if global brands are making the switch to cruelty-free in order to keep their business in the EU? Thoughts?

Sneek Peek at Hard Candy Spring 2013

A huge thanks to my pal Halifax at Sparkled Beauty for this one. Halifax shared a link to this Instagram pic from a blogger who attended a recent Hard Candy press event. You can see that there are NEW polishes with a new bottle style (they kind of remind me of Maybelline Color Show), and what looks to be some Fox In A Box-ish blushes.

I'm sad to see the iconic Hard Candy rings go away, but excited to see what new colors they have in store for us!

PS: To see my previous post about the older Hard Candy products that are being discontinued, click here. For info about the new Hard Candy CC Creme for Spring 2013, click here.

Beauty clearance sales (and a haul pic!)

I want to thank so many of you for the heads-up this week about clearance sales you've been spotting. Since many of you have been spotting these deals, I think it's safe to say that, unlike certain clearance sales spotted "in the wild" these sales seem to be a bit more widespread.
So when you're out and about this week, keep these in mind:
Sally Beauty -- reader HeatherS said that Orly is changing their packaging so the old bottles are all BOGOFREE right now. I haven't been to Sally yet this week so I don't know if this is nationwide), but HeatherS said both Sally stores in her town were running this sale.
Target -- several readers have spotted cosmetics on clearance from brands like Milani, Pixi, Maybelline, Revlon, Sally Hansen, Sonia Kashuk, etc. Update: right after I published this post, my pal Jess of Polish Insomniac tweeted me this pic of a crazy hair color deal she spotted at Target. Thanks, Jess!
Rite Aid -- various older LE products on clearance, as well as products from older "new product" counter displays. Note: when Rite Aid and other drugstores take down "new product" displays, they often put those products on clearance, even though they're new, permanent additions to the core line of the brand. If the permanent wall display hasn't been reset yet for the new products, they sometimes put the products on clearance until there's room for them in the wall displays.

Ulta -- lots and lots of nail polish on clearance (up to 80% off) reported by multiple readers.

Kmart -- lots of makeup from a variety of brands has been spotted on clearance by several readers, including the Kardashian Khroma line, which has been spotted on 75% clearance by multiple readers.
Walmart: -- lots of beauty products spotted on clearance right now by multiple readers. Reader Amanda said she spotted the Palmer's BB Cream for $7.

That's all I know so far--thanks to YOU! If you've spotted other clearance sales at retailers not mentioned above, please leave a comment and fill us in (and thank you!).

New Vo5 Salon Series haircare collection

I did a few posts about this new line from Vo5 when I first heard about it, but today I'd like to give you the official details. I know that some of you have spotted these products in stores already, but for the rest of us, February is the official launch date.

All products in the Vo5 Salon Series line retail for $2.49 each. Read on for more details:

NEW SALON SERIES LINE FROM ALBERTO VO5® TAPS 5 ESSENTIAL VITAMINS AND 11 NATURAL REVITALIZING OILS FOR SALON BEAUTIFUL HAIR, FROM ROOTS TO ENDS

All-new line of shampoos, conditioners and treatments deliver salon-quality results and legendary VO5 value

Stamford, CT – Alberto VO5®, the legendary hair care brand that revealed its longtime, 5-vitamin secret for beautiful, healthy hair earlier this year, is making history once again with Salon Series: an all-new line of shampoos, conditioners, styling and treatment products that create remarkable, salon-quality results, by tapping the power of 11 revitalizing oils that naturally hydrate, nourish and restore hair’s body and shine.

Uniquely formulated from 100 percent natural oils, derived from honey, papaya, kiwi, marigold, sweet almond and more, Salon Series products penetrate hair from roots-to-ends to create superior results, working in tandem with VO5’s proprietary, five-vitamin formula (vitamins E, H, C, B3 and B5).  And with a suggested retail price of $2.49, never have salon-caliber results been so within reach.

VO5 Salon Series also brings welcome simplicity to the hair care aisle. Rather than a dizzying array of products, the line consists of four varieties of shampoos and conditioners that address nearly all hair care needs.  Rounding out the VO5 Salon Series line are three moisturizing treatments that rival the performance of much more expensive salon brand products, and four styling products, including hairsprays, mousse and gel.

“Our goal in developing VO5 Salon Series was to make salon-beautiful hair affordable for everyone.  Inspired by our own heritage in Hot Oil, we saw an opportunity to leverage the many benefits of five essentials vitamins and natural oils, and expand into a full, salon-quality line of shampoos, conditioners and hair treatments,” said Nina Riley, VP Marketing at High Ridge Brands, owner of Alberto VO5.

Sally Hansen Blackberry Honey vs. Clinique Black Honey

Yesterday I posted info about the new Sally Hansen jumbo lip pencils called Colorfast Tint + Moisture Balms. In that post, I wondered aloud if the shade Blackberry Honey might be similar to the iconic Clinique shade, Black Honey. Well, wonder no longer: reader Peaisms not only purchased Blackberry Honey, but she was nice enough to share a swatch comparison of it next to Black Honey!

image credit: Peaisms for Nouveau Cheap
Sally Hansen Colorfast Tint + Moisture Balm in Blackberry Honey
    vs.
Clinique Almost Lipstick in Black Honey

Not a dupe, but they're in the same color family. As Peaisms indicated, Blackberry Honey is a deeper, plummier shade. But if you have always thought that Black Honey was a tad too light for you, Blackberry Honey might just the ticket.

Peaisms said that the Sally Hansen Colorfast Moisture + Tint Balms retail for $5.79 at her CVS.  She said they  have "only the faintest almost vanilla-y scent" and that they are "very sheer and feel more like a light lip balm."

Do you think Blackberry Honey might be a good shade for you? Have you spotted these new Sally Hansen jumbo lip pencils in your area yet? Thoughts?

Thanks so much, Peaisms, for the great comparison swatches and info!

Spotted: New Suave Naturals Rainforest Fresh Shampoo and Conditioner

New Suave scent alert! At the grocery store the other day, I spotted the new Rainforest Fresh shampoo and conditioner. Take peek:

New Suave Naturals Rainforest Fresh Shampoo & Conditioner
    (retail: around $2.50 each)

"infused with aloe and bamboo extract"

I did some digging and noticed that this scent is now available on the usual websites (drugstore.com, amazon, soap.com) but I don't believe it's up on the Suave website just yet.

If you haven't spotted this yet, let me try my best to explain the fragrance to you. At first I thought it might be similar to Waterfall Mist, but it's not--at all. Waterfall Mist has that distinctive clean, watery fragrance to it, whereas Rainforest Fresh is sweeter, more botanical. It smells very green and lush, with a nice aloe note to it. Definitely unique for Suave and I think it's nice new addition to the lineup as far as fragrance goes (I haven't yet tried it on my hair).

Have you spotted Rainforest Fresh in your area yet? Thoughts?

New Salon Grafix Chroma-Logica High Gloss Hair Spray

Notice the "Try Me Free" rebate tag on the bottle.

I did some research and found a post about this product on the Salon Grafix Facebook page (posted just yesterday).

New L'Oreal Age Perfect BB Cream SPF20

I can't believe I haven't posted about this one! In case you have yet to see this product in stores, here's the newest BB Cream from L'Oreal:

New L'Oreal Age Perfect BB Cream SPF20 in Light/Medium
    (retail: $16.99, 2.5 oz)

Looking on the L'Oreal website, it appears that this only comes in one color: Light/Medium. It's listed at drugstore.com as temporarily out of stock, but it will ship on 1-2 weeks.

BB Cream is an All-in-One Beautifying Cream
    • Nourishes
    • Redensifies
    • Evens
    • Perfects
    • Boosts Radiance
    • Non-greasy, lightweight
    • Dermatologist tested
Combines advanced anti-aging skincare benefits with sheer coverage to bring back healthy radiance to mature skin.  Advanced Skin-Matching Tone Enhancers transform upon touch to illuminate skin with a healthy glow.  In one luxurious step, sheer color + anti-aging benefits boost radiance and skin's resilience.  Age Perfect BB Cream, with Vitamin C and Soy Seed Protein, diminishes the appearance of age spots and helps tone and strengthen skin.

Broad Spectrum SPF 20 helps protect against future damage if used as directed.

    Made in USA

Active Ingredients: Avobenzone (3%, Sunscreen), Octisalate (5%, Sunscreen), Octocrylene (7%, Sunscreen)

Inactive Ingredients: Water, Cyclopentasiloxane, Glycerin, Myristyl Myristate, Butyrospermum Parkii (Shea) Butter, Mineral Oil, PEG 100 Stearate, Glyceryl Stearate, Poly C10 30 Alkyl Acrylate, Acrylates Copolymer, Acrylates/Ammonium Methacrylate Copolymer, Ascorbyl Glucoside, Benzyl Alcohol, Boron Nitride, Calcium Pantetheine Sulfonate, Capryloyl Salicylic Acid, Caprylyl Glycol, Carbomer, Citronellol, Coumarin, Disodium EDTA, Eugenol, Fragrance, Geraniol, Hydrolyzed Soy Protein, Hydroxyapatite, Iron Oxides, Limonene, Linalool, Mica, Microcrystalline Wax, Paraffin, Pentasodium, Ethylenediamine Tetramethylene Phosphonate, Phenoxyethanol, Titanium Dioxide, Triethanolamine, Triethyl Citrate, Xanthan Gum

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I think this might the first US drugstore BB Cream specifically geared toward mature skin (the Youth Code BB cream doesn't really make anti-aging claims). I really hope that they eventually release some additional shades because even if this is self-adjusting, Light/Medium doesn't cut it for many of us. Thoughts?

And on the Rite Aid Video Values site, there is a printable coupon for $2 off a L'Oreal Advanced Haircare Treatment (you'll need to register and watch a brief video before you can access the coupon, of course).

You can STACK these two coupons and receive a whopping $4 off one L'Oreal Advanced Haircare Treatment! (I believe the treatments regularly retail for $5.99 each at Rite Aid but don't quote me on that).

NOTE: Rite Aid Video Values coupons sometimes say "manufacturer coupon" on them, but the important thing to note is that the number above the barcode starts with an "RC 49" (manufacturer's coupons start with "5"). So to be safe, just make sure that your Video Values coupons begin with the "RC 49" and if so, you're absolutely good to go for stacking with a manufacturer's coupon!

PS: There are lots of other great coupons on Save.com right now, which you can of course use anywhere (not just Rite Aid). $1 off L'Oreal nail color, $1 off Colour Caresse, etc. Click here to grab them before they're gone!

Update regarding Revlon Lip Butter in Peach Parfait

A lot can change overnight! After my frenzy of posts last night about the new shades of Revlon Lip Butters currently being spotted "in the wild," I received some extremely helpful comments and I want to set the record straight about the current Lip Butter shade Peach Parfait.

After comparing what's currently on the Ulta website (the original shades and new shades) and seeing that the original shade, Peach Parfait, is not on the Ulta website, I said that it MIGHT be discontinued, with a new shade in its placed called Pink Parfait

What led me to believe that this MIGHT be the case is that, in the frenzy of what was happening last night, I thought that some readers said they actually spotted Pink Parfait in person (going back over the tweets/emails/Facebook messages this morning, this turned out to NOT be the case). Also, if you'll recall, Peach Parfait was one of the shades that was on clearance at some CVS locations during the last Beauty Clearance Sale (yes, I realize that not all CVS locations had Lip Butters on clearance--but Peach Parfait was on clearance at some locations).

I agree that the names Peach Parfait and Pink Parfait are quite similar, and it crossed my mind that maybe Ulta just had a typo on their site all these months and that Pink Parfait was actually supposed to  be Peach Parfait all along. But that seemed a bit strange to me and, coupled with the information above, I felt fairly confident that Pink Parfait was a new shade.

BUT, then I received a comment from reader schwabj, who informed me that she noticed the shade Pink Parfait on the Ulta site about six months ago. And if you look at the image of Pink Parfait, it does look similar to Peach Parfait--I'm looking at my tube of Peach Parfait in person and they do look alike.

Therefore, I'm going to go ahead and say that, as of now, I don't believe that a new shade called Pink Parfait exists. I believe that the shade on the Ulta website is in fact Peach Parfait, and that Peach Parfait is NOT going to be discontinued.  To further support this, many of you have said that Peach Parfait is still very much on the Revlon website (usually when a shade is discontinued, brands are pretty quick to remove the shade from their website).

I could very well be wrong, but this is what I believe to be true as of the time of this post.

Part of the danger in trying to bring you the latest news in the world of drugstore beauty is that sometimes I'm processing a lot of information at once, and none of it is official (directly from the brand itself). If I receive numurous tips and info at the same time (as was the case with the new Lip Butter shades last night), it can be a challenge to sort through information and bring you a summary of the info I've received. I try very hard to be 101% accurate with everything I post here, but I do make honest mistakes that I try to correct as soon as I'm made aware of them. Thanks for your understanding, and thanks so much to all of you for willingness to offer your insights, information and opinions here. I could never in a million years do this without you and I'm forever grateful.

    New Revlon Lip Butter shades!

So the other day on Facebook, reader Emilee was nice enough to tell me that, when she was at Ulta recently, she noticed a NEW shade of Lip Butter called 027 Juicy Papaya in the permanent Revlon display. After I stopped hyperventilating, I asked her for more details and she told me that she purchased this new shade. She was also nice enough, at my request, to snap a few pics of the tube for us:

Review: New Vidal Sassoon Pro Series Moisture Lock Shampoo & Conditioner

Remember last year when I first posted about Vidal Sassoon making a return to drugstores? I know that a lot of us were also hoping for a return of the iconic brown bottles and almond-scented products. Well, I'm sad to report that neither one of those elements made a comeback, but that doesn't mean there's nothing to get excited about. I've been using both the new Moisture Lock Shampoo and Conditioner for several weeks now, which I purchased at Rite Aid the minute I spotted them. Let's see how they've been working for me.

New Vidal Sassoon Pro Series Moisture Lock Shampoo & Conditioner
    (retail: $4.99 each, 25.3 oz)

The new Vidal Sassoon Pro Series features a collection of shampoos, conditioners, styling products and hair color. To view the entire range, click here.

Vidal Sassoon is owned by P&G and when I discovered that (by reading the bottle), I was curious if these products were going to be more in line with Aussie, Herbal Essences and Pantene (also owned by P&G) or perhaps more like Wella and Clairol Professional (also owned by P&G). I'll let you know my opinion on that in a moment!

This is quite exciting news! The extremely popular Brazilian nail color brand, Impala, is now available in the US, both online and in select retail locations. This line includes holos, glitters, mattes and more, at just $4.99 a bottle!

Impala has recently launched in the US, bring with it some Brazilian flavor! And the best part? Only $4.99 a bottle!

Impala has a broad range of quick-drying polishes in almost every color imaginable, with effects from glitter to 3D holographic to matte! The polishes are also 3-free and many of them are hypoallergenic. They're available on the Mundial website, as well as select stores in the US.

The parent company of Impala is Mundial and here is some info from their website:

Mundial Personal Care is the retail branch of the world’s largest manufacturer of nail care implements: Mundial S.A.

Our cuticle nippers are worldwide recognized for its quality and durability. Tradition is also found in our scissors (hair and nails), tweezers and nail nippers.

Our nail polish brand, Impala, offers our renowned quality and colors that are making the fashion.

I'm awaiting details about exactly which retail locations will be carrying this brand, and I'll let you know as soon as I get that info. In the meantime, the Impala website does accept Pay Pal, which I think should make some of you happy!

Which polish am I the most excited to try? That would be this lovely shade:

I'm also kind of loving the orange jelly-creme, Saia Justa (click here for swatches), and a few others. How cute are these bottles?

So, are you excited to hear that this Brazilian nail polish brand is going to be a whole lot easier for us in the US to purchase? Do you already own any Impala nail polishes? I'd love to hear from you!
